Minister Goyal has engaged in bilateral discussions with senior leadership from several prominent US firms during his ongoing visit to America, which extends through October 5. The talks have centred on expanding corporate investment, manufacturing capabilities, and sourcing operations in India.
Among the meetings was a session with Grant McGee, Executive Vice President and Chief Legal and Compliance Officer at retail giant Target. The discussions focused on how the company could capitalise on India's growing manufacturing potential under the Make in India initiative, while simultaneously deepening its operational footprint in the country and broadening its sourcing base from Indian suppliers.
Goyal also met with Amit Banati, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Mondelez International, the multinational conglomerate behind numerous global chocolate and biscuit brands. The conversation examined opportunities for the company to expand its manufacturing, sourcing, and investment activities in India, building on its seven-decade operational history in the country. Officials highlighted India's rising consumer base and investment-friendly reforms as compelling factors for global consumer brands seeking to establish a stronger regional presence.
The minister's engagement with US corporate executives underscores New Delhi's continued push to attract foreign direct investment and foster deeper commercial ties with American businesses.
