Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will lead a 200-member business delegation to Japan from August 24 for a four-day visit focused on deepening trade and investment ties between the two nations. The delegation comprises representatives from diverse sectors including manufacturing, semiconductors, renewable energy, steel, automotive, financial services, healthcare and startups, according to Ficci Director General Jyoti Viz.
The visit gains added significance following Japan's announcement last year of a 10 trillion yen (approximately Rs 60,000 crore) investment target for India over the next decade. During the trip, Goyal will visit Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka to conduct high-level engagements with Japanese business leadership.
In Tokyo, the minister is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with top executives from major Japanese conglomerates that have historically partnered with India's economic growth. A key engagement will include a round-table discussion with Keidanren, the Japan Business Federation, which represents over 1,500 leading Japanese corporations operating across multiple industries.
The delegation's broad sectoral representation reflects efforts to create targeted opportunities across India's priority growth areas. Dedicated business sessions are planned to facilitate one-on-one meetings between Indian entrepreneurs and Japanese investors seeking to expand operations in the Indian market.
