GPS denies circulating list of candidates for Sarawak election

The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has clarified that no official list of candidates has been released for the upcoming Sarawak state election, distancing itself from anonymous messages circulating online.

Party spokesman Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah cautioned the public against treating unconfirmed messages as confirmation of prospective election candidates. He emphasised that such anonymous communications should not be regarded as official party announcements regarding which ministers and representatives will contest the polls.

The statement comes as speculation mounts about which sitting members will retain their seats ahead of the state election. GPS, which dominates state politics, has not yet formally announced its full slate of candidates.

The party's clarification aims to curb misinformation and prevent confusion among voters and party members alike. Official candidate announcements are expected to follow the party's formal nomination process.
