The booking manager, identified as Vikas Kumar, has been taken into custody on charges of negligence in connection with the bus fire that resulted in fatalities. According to police statements, multiple passengers had alerted Kumar about smoke and fire on the vehicle, but he allegedly took no action to address the emergency or evacuate those on board.
The delayed response and lack of preventive measures during the critical initial moments have been cited as contributing factors to the tragedy. Investigators are examining whether Kumar's inaction directly resulted in additional casualties.
On Friday, authorities identified three additional victims of the incident, bringing the confirmed death toll higher. The identification process has been ongoing as rescue and recovery efforts continue at the scene.
