Green sea turtle freed after rescue from fishing net in Isabela

A green sea turtle was released into coastal waters off Dinapigue, Isabela, on Tuesday after being rescued from a fishing net where it had become accidentally entangled.

The turtle, identified as Chelonia mydas, measured approximately 45 inches in length and 42 inches in width. It was discovered trapped in the fishing gear and subsequently brought to safety by rescue personnel.

The release operation was conducted in waters adjacent to Dinapigue town, allowing the marine reptile to return to its natural habitat. The rescue effort highlights ongoing concerns over accidental capture of endangered sea turtles in Philippine fishing grounds.
