GREW Solar ties up with US firm for next-gen hybrid solar module production
Indian solar manufacturer GREW Solar has inked a five-year partnership with California-based Caelux Corporation to produce advanced perovskite-silicon hybrid-tandem solar modules. Commercial production is slated to commence in 2028, with the modules expected to achieve efficiency levels exceeding 29 per cent.

GREW Solar has entered into a strategic partnership with Caelux Corporation, a California-headquartered technology firm, to manufacture hybrid-tandem solar modules in India. The multi-year agreement represents a significant step in advancing next-generation photovoltaic technology within the country's growing renewable energy sector.
Under the collaboration, the two companies will jointly produce perovskite-plus-silicon tandem solar modules designed to deliver conversion efficiencies above 29 per cent. The technology combines perovskite and silicon layers to capture a broader spectrum of sunlight, potentially improving overall energy conversion compared to conventional silicon-based solar panels.
Commercial-scale production is expected to begin in 2028, with an initial capacity of 4 gigawatts (GW) annually. The partnership aims to position India as a manufacturing hub for cutting-edge solar technology while supporting the country's renewable energy expansion goals.
Hybrid-tandem solar modules represent an emerging frontier in photovoltaic innovation, offering pathways to enhance solar efficiency and reduce per-watt costs.
