In a display of quick thinking and courage, a police inspector in Gujarat stopped a getaway car by hanging from its door and engaging the emergency handbrake, leading to the recovery of ₹3.75 crore in stolen gold.
The inspector pursued the fleeing suspects for approximately 500 meters while gripping the door of the moving Tata Tiago, refusing to let go despite the vehicle's motion. Once he gained control of the steering wheel, he pulled the emergency brake, bringing the car to a halt.
The swift action prevented the suspects from escaping with the precious metal. Police subsequently arrested four accused persons and recovered the entire stolen gold consignment at the scene.
The incident highlights the determination of Gujarat's law enforcement personnel in tackling organized theft and recovering valuables taken in major heists. Authorities have registered cases against all apprehended suspects and launched further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the theft.
