A significant narcotics haul was recovered during an intensive law enforcement operation on the Malpur-Modasa highway in Gujarat's Aravalli district. The Local Crime Branch (LCB) team seized 425 kilograms of poppy straw during a vehicle interception near Sun Gold Hotel on the outskirts of Mordungari village under Malpur police station jurisdiction.

The operation unfolded when LCB personnel, conducting routine vehicle checks along the highway corridor, encountered resistance from the occupants of the suspect vehicle. The situation escalated into a high-speed pursuit, during which armed exchanges occurred between law enforcement and the vehicle's occupants.

The dramatic engagement ultimately resulted in the seizure of the substantial poppy straw consignment. Poppy straw, the dried stalks and leaves of the opium poppy plant, is a controlled substance used in the illegal manufacture of heroin and other narcotic drugs. The recovery represents a significant interdiction in the region's ongoing battle against narcotics trafficking.

Authorities have launched investigations into the source and intended destination of the confiscated material. The operation underscores intensified enforcement efforts by local law enforcement agencies to disrupt drug trafficking networks operating across state highways in Gujarat.
