Guntur Police Drive Targets Road Safety With Hygiene Campaign

Law enforcement officials in Guntur have launched an innovative awareness drive that combines hygiene practices with accident prevention measures on busy routes across the district. The 'Stop – Wash and Go' programme encourages commercial and private vehicle operators to take periodic breaks during travel, wash their faces and hands, and refresh themselves before continuing their journeys.

The initiative is designed to combat fatigue-related accidents by promoting regular intervals during long-distance travel. Police officials contend that drivers who pause to refresh themselves are more alert and less prone to drowsiness-induced collisions, a leading cause of road fatalities in the region.

The campaign integrates basic sanitation awareness with road safety protocols, encouraging drivers to utilise rest stops and designated facilities to maintain personal hygiene. Officers have been deployed across major highways and arterial routes to educate vehicle operators about the dual benefits of the programme.

The Guntur Police Department is positioning the drive as part of a broader road safety strategy aimed at reducing accident mortality rates. The initiative targets commercial vehicle drivers, taxi operators, and long-haul travellers who are most vulnerable to fatigue-related incidents during extended driving periods.
