Gurgaon flooded after heavy downpour; WFH advisory issued

Gurgaon faced significant disruptions following a spell of intense rainfall that left several areas waterlogged and major thoroughfares congested. The downpour triggered widespread traffic jams across the city, with multiple roads becoming temporarily impassable due to accumulated water.

School buses became stranded in the flooding around the Subhash Chowk area, highlighting the severity of the waterlogging crisis. Commuters faced extended delays as roads that typically handle heavy traffic volumes became difficult to navigate. The rapid accumulation of water on roads forced many vehicles to take alternate routes, further compounding congestion elsewhere in the city.

In response to the deteriorating conditions, the district administration issued an advisory urging organizations and residents to adopt work-from-home arrangements on August 25. The measure is intended to reduce vehicular traffic on roads still affected by flooding, allowing civic authorities to carry out emergency repairs and drainage operations more efficiently.

The advisory underscores the ongoing challenges Gurgaon faces during monsoon season, with the city's drainage infrastructure frequently overwhelmed by heavy rainfall. District officials have requested public cooperation to minimize movement in the 24 hours following the deluge, allowing adequate time for remedial measures.
