The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has mandated its joint commissioners across all six zones to establish dedicated night enforcement teams to monitor and prevent open garbage burning in the city. The directive, issued from the corporation's headquarters, seeks to systematise efforts against the practice that contributes to air pollution and environmental degradation.
Under the new protocol, each zone's joint commissioner is required to furnish comprehensive details about their enforcement machinery, including the composition of night patrol teams, duty schedules and direct contact numbers for rapid response. The move reflects the corporation's intent to maintain consistent vigilance during night hours when such violations often occur undetected.
The initiative addresses a persistent problem in the rapidly expanding Haryana city, where uncontrolled waste burning has frequently been cited as a contributor to deteriorating air quality. By deploying structured night operations and establishing clear accountability mechanisms, the MCG aims to improve compliance with environmental regulations.
The enforcement framework signals the corporation's commitment to strengthening coordination between its administrative divisions and establishing transparent protocols for monitoring and enforcement across the urban agglomeration.
