Gurugram police shoot two smugglers in encounter; one constable injured

A police operation in Gurugram's Sector 65 resulted in an armed confrontation on Tuesday after officers received intelligence about three men planning to commit a robbery, according to Sandeep Turan, public relations officer of Gurugram police.

The crime branch team initiated a stop-and-search operation targeting the suspects. When the men attempted to evade arrest and opened fire on the officers, police responded with gunshots, wounding two of the wanted smugglers. One police constable sustained a gunshot injury during the exchange of fire.

Following the encounter, one suspect was apprehended at the scene. The two injured smugglers were taken into custody after receiving medical treatment. Officers recovered arms and ammunition from the suspects, though further details about the seized items were not immediately disclosed.

The Gurugram police have launched further investigations into the incident. Authorities are determining whether the suspects had direct connections to organized smuggling networks or acted independently in planning the alleged robbery.
