Ha Tinh has implemented round-the-clock surveillance of its fishing vessels to prevent maritime violations and protect foreign fishing grounds from illegal incursion. The province has recorded zero cases of vessels exceeding permitted boundaries or conducting unauthorized fishing operations in international waters in recent years, provincial authorities said.

The achievement reflects a strategic shift toward digital monitoring and electronic catch traceability systems designed to provide transparency across the supply chain. These initiatives complement existing vessel management protocols and represent a comprehensive approach to combating IUU fishing at the provincial level.

The measures align with Vietnam's broader campaign to address the European Commission's "yellow card" warning on IUU fishing, which has prompted coordinated action across multiple provinces including Tay Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City. Enhanced communication between fishing communities, provincial authorities, and international partners has emerged as a critical factor in demonstrating compliance and commitment to sustainable fishing practices.

Ha Tinh's focus on fleet accountability and catch documentation underscores the importance of technological solutions in maritime governance. Officials emphasize that sustained vigilance and systematic monitoring remain essential to maintaining the province's compliance record and supporting Vietnam's efforts to resolve outstanding IUU fishing concerns.
