Halle Berry backs emerging filmmakers in Tribeca-Chanel initiative

Berry participated in a mentorship panel in New York City where five filmmaking teams were selected to participate in the Tribeca-Chanel program, designed to amplify underrepresented voices in cinema. The initiative combines practical guidance from established industry figures with substantial financial backing to help bring creative projects to completion.

Among the recipients were filmmakers Gem Little and Kseniya Yorsh, whose short film COWARDS was selected for the award. The program provides participants with more than financial resources, offering structured workshops and ongoing mentorship throughout the production process.

The collaboration reflects growing efforts within the film industry to create tangible pathways for women and non-binary creators, addressing longstanding disparities in funding and opportunity. Program participants benefit from direct access to experienced professionals who provide guidance on navigating the filmmaking landscape.

The Tribeca Festival has announced that applications for the next cycle of the Tribeca-Chanel program will open ahead of the 2027 festival edition, inviting emerging filmmakers to submit their projects for consideration.
