Hamilton energised by prospect of African Formula One grand prix

Lewis Hamilton has expressed renewed enthusiasm about his future in Formula One following the sport's agreement to hold a grand prix in Rwanda, marking a historic milestone for African motorsport.

The seven-time world champion told reporters at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, that the prospect of racing on the African continent represents a long-held ambition that could motivate him to continue competing at the highest level.

"Having a race in Africa has always been a dream," Hamilton said, indicating that the realisation of this goal could influence his decision on how long to remain active in the sport.

Formula One's deal with Rwanda represents a significant expansion of the series into new markets and reflects growing interest in motorsport across the African continent. The race is scheduled to take place in the early 2030s, giving Hamilton and other current competitors several years to anticipate the historic event.

Hamilton's remarks underscore the symbolic importance of African representation in Formula One, a sport where opportunities for African drivers and venues have historically been limited.
