Hanoi is exploring fresh avenues for practical cooperation with the United Kingdom, focusing on sectors deemed critical to the capital's economic trajectory. The initiative builds on an established foundation of bilateral engagement, including the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and Britain's integration into the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership.
British investment in Vietnam has reached substantial levels, with 607 projects valued at approximately 4.66 billion USD currently operational across the country. Educational ties between the nations remain robust, with more than 12,000 Vietnamese students enrolled in British institutions, fostering long-term people-to-people connections that underpin diplomatic relations.
The push for expanded cooperation reflects Hanoi's broader strategy to diversify economic partnerships amid regional geopolitical shifts. By deepening engagement with established Western trading partners, Vietnam aims to strengthen supply chain resilience while accessing new sources of capital and technical expertise for infrastructure and industrial development.
