The trial commenced on the morning of November 2, addressing charges that span multiple financial crimes including embezzlement of state funds and the unauthorized issuance and trading of invoices related to state budget payments. The case involves a total of 23 defendants, with Chu Thi Thanh facing primary responsibility as the head of the major business conglomerate.

The charges also include allegations of tax evasion, marking a significant case in Vietnam's ongoing anti-corruption efforts. The prosecution's case centers on financial irregularities within the Thien Minh Duc Group's operations and their alleged violations of state financial controls.

The trial is expected to examine documentation and testimonies related to the group's financial transactions and compliance with Vietnamese tax and budgetary regulations. As the proceedings develop, investigators will present evidence supporting the embezzlement and invoice-trading allegations against the defendants.

The Hanoi People's Court case represents part of Vietnam's broader crackdown on corporate financial misconduct and illicit fund flows. The outcome of this first-instance trial could have significant implications for corporate governance standards and oversight mechanisms within major business groups operating in the country.
