Hanoi authorities have granted approval for Phenikaa-X JSC to conduct an extended trial of autonomous vehicles and robotic systems over the next two years, marking a significant step in Vietnam's adoption of smart transportation technology.
The controlled testing program will take place across two venues: Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park and the Hoa Lac campus of Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The trial encompasses multiple autonomous systems, including self-driving buses designed for public transportation, robotaxis for individual mobility, automated cleaning robots for sanitation purposes, and delivery robots for logistics operations.
The designated test sites provide a contained environment where developers can evaluate the performance, safety, and integration of autonomous technologies with existing infrastructure. The two-year timeline allows for comprehensive data collection and refinement of the systems before potential broader deployment.
This pilot program reflects Hanoi's efforts to position itself as a technology innovation hub in Southeast Asia.
