The Hanoi People's Committee has greenlit a cultural industry initiative targeting properties at 17 Nguyen Thien Thuat and 40 Thanh Ha streets in the Old Quarter. The project encompasses approximately 3,862 square meters of land, with around 2,317 square meters designated for construction.
Plans include the renovation of existing structures and comprehensive upgrades to the architectural character and landscaping of the sites. Technical infrastructure improvements will support modern facility standards across the development.
The initiative aims to create dedicated spaces for cultural, artistic, and creative pursuits, positioning the Old Quarter as a hub for Vietnam's growing creative economy. The project aligns with Hanoi's broader efforts to enhance its cultural offerings and tourism appeal.
The development comes as Vietnam marks its inaugural Culture Day celebrations and as the capital gains international recognition for its cultural programming, including participation in regional culture and tourism industry expos. Officials have not disclosed a completion timeline for the Old Quarter project.
