Hanoi is set to become the host of a landmark festival dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional craft villages, bringing together Vietnamese and international artisans on a sprawling 10,000-square-meter venue. The inaugural event will feature twelve Vietnamese craft villages, each demonstrating centuries-old techniques and contemporary innovations in traditional handicraft production.
The festival will combine cultural preservation with modern economic and environmental priorities. Alongside live craft demonstrations and displays of innovative designs, organizers have incorporated digital transformation showcases and Net Zero sustainability initiatives, reflecting Vietnam's commitment to balancing heritage conservation with environmental responsibility.
Beyond the exhibition spaces, the festival program will include culinary experiences and cultural performances, creating a comprehensive platform for visitors to engage with Vietnam's artisanal traditions. Officials view the event as part of a broader strategy to leverage craft village tourism as a growth catalyst for rural economies, offering alternative income sources for communities dependent on traditional production.
The festival underscores Hanoi's recognition of craft villages as cultural and economic assets. By attracting both domestic and international visitors, organizers hope to strengthen market demand for traditional Vietnamese handicrafts while establishing frameworks for sustainable preservation of craft heritage for future generations.
