The Hanoi People's Committee has unveiled a draft proposal to reconfigure the boundaries of Ba Vi National Park, located northwest of the capital. The adjustment encompasses approximately 2,520 hectares within the park proper and an additional 1,477 hectares in its surrounding buffer zone, according to official documentation.
Authorities aim to use the boundary realignment as a mechanism to strengthen heritage conservation while developing ecotourism initiatives in the region. The move reflects Hanoi's broader strategy to balance economic development with environmental stewardship across the capital region.
Ba Vi National Park, one of Vietnam's important protected areas, has long been recognized for its biodiversity and cultural significance. The proposed changes are expected to enhance management capabilities and create frameworks for sustainable tourism activities that generate revenue for local communities while preserving the area's ecological integrity.
The proposal comes as Hanoi continues efforts to position itself as a growth center for the broader Capital region. Officials have indicated that expanded protected areas could support livelihood improvements for surrounding communities through controlled ecotourism and conservation-related activities.
