The Temple of Literature, designated as a special national relic site in Hanoi, is implementing a comprehensive digitisation programme covering artefacts, architectural elements and intangible cultural heritage. The modernisation effort responds to Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and aims to strengthen preservation methods while making Vietnam's educational and cultural legacy more accessible to the public.
Digital offerings now available to visitors include interactive 2D and 3D publications, video documentaries profiling historical figures associated with the temple, and immersive digital displays. Evening tour programmes incorporating digital technologies have been introduced to provide alternative ways for visitors to experience the site's significance in Vietnamese history.
The digitisation strategy represents a shift toward technology-enabled heritage management, combining traditional preservation with contemporary digital tools. By creating multiple entry points for public engagement—from online resources to on-site interactive experiences—the Temple of Literature aims to broaden appeal beyond conventional museum visits.
The initiative underscores Vietnam's broader commitment to leveraging digital innovation in cultural heritage conservation. As one of Southeast Asia's most significant historical sites, the Temple of Literature's modernisation efforts could serve as a model for other institutions managing national cultural assets in the region.
