Hardeep Puri, a senior BJP leader and Union Minister, has been elected to the Madhya Pradesh Rajya Sabha unopposed in a bypoll held in the state. The election was concluded without any competing candidates filing nominations for the seat.
Madhya Pradesh BJP president Hemant Khandelwal formally collected Puri's certificate of election from the returning officer, marking the completion of the electoral process. The certificate was received in the presence of BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma, underscoring the party's prominent role in the proceedings.
The unopposed election reflects the BJP's dominant position in the state assembly, where the party commands a significant majority. Puri's elevation to the Upper House adds to the party's representation in Parliament's second chamber.
The Rajya Sabha seat had fallen vacant, necessitating the bypoll. Puri's entry into the Upper House comes as the BJP continues to consolidate its political position across key states in central India.
