Hartalika Teej Falls on September 14; Auspicious Timings and Rituals Noted

According to the Hindu lunar calendar, the tritiya tithi of Bhadrapada's bright fortnight will commence on September 13, 2026, at 7:08 a.m. and remain in effect until September 14 at 7:06 a.m. Following the udaya tithi convention, which determines observance based on the tithi's prevalence at sunrise, Hartalika Teej will be celebrated on Monday, September 14.

Hartalika Teej is one of the most widely observed festivals in northern and central India, particularly among married and unmarried women. The festival holds significance in Hindu tradition as a day dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Women observe a rigorous nirjala vrat, or waterless fast, from sunrise to sunset, engaging in prayers and ritual worship throughout the day.

The fast, known to test physical endurance and spiritual devotion, concludes the following morning at sunrise when women break their fast, or paran. This ritual marks the completion of the vow and is typically observed with family gatherings and the sharing of traditional foods.
