Haryana has cleared the civil works contract valued at ₹1,662 crore for Phase 2 of the Gurugram Metro project, marking a significant step toward expanding the city's public transport infrastructure. The expansion will connect key residential and commercial zones, addressing growing connectivity demands in the National Capital Region's major IT and business hub.
The extended corridor will run from Sector 9 to Cyber City, passing through densely populated and commercially important areas. The project is designed to provide seamless interchange facilities with the Rapid Metro and Namo Bharat networks, creating a comprehensive multi-modal transport ecosystem for commuters and reducing dependence on private vehicles.
Once completed, Phase 2 will enhance last-mile connectivity and ease traffic congestion on major arterial roads. The integration with existing metro systems is expected to improve accessibility for residents and workers across Gurugram, particularly benefiting the large workforce employed in the city's thriving technology and corporate sectors.
The approval reflects the state's commitment to upgrading urban mobility infrastructure as Gurugram continues its rapid expansion. The project joins other ongoing transport initiatives in the region aimed at addressing infrastructure gaps created by the city's growth trajectory.
