Haryana IAS officer faces graft charges days before retirement

The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a first information report against retired IAS officer D. Suresh on allegations of causing financial loss to the government through irregular land dealings. According to the complaint, Suresh allegedly transferred a 500-square-yard plot for ₹6.71 lakh, significantly below its assessed value, resulting in purported losses exceeding ₹3.5 crore.

The timing of the case has drawn attention, as the officer was reportedly just five days away from completing his retirement when the FIR was filed. The allegations centre on the improper disposal of government or institutional land during his tenure in an administrative capacity.

The case marks another addition to a series of corruption investigations targeting senior bureaucrats in the state. The ACB's action comes as part of heightened scrutiny on administrative decisions involving asset transfers and land transactions. Suresh has not made any public statement regarding the charges so far.

The investigation will examine the process followed for the land transaction, including approval mechanisms and valuations that were applied at the time of the transaction. Authorities are examining whether proper procedures were followed and whether the officer acted within his official capacity when making the decision.
