Haryana launches major push to clear backlog of pending notices

The Haryana Chief Electoral Officer has launched a concerted drive to tackle the substantial backlog of pending SIR notices that have accumulated across the state. The initiative, which began as a three-day operation, has already shown measurable progress in reducing case loads that have been awaiting resolution.

During October 7 and 8, authorities disposed of 57,339 pending hearing cases through the accelerated processing drive. Despite this significant output, the effort has underscored the scale of the challenge, with 2,85,834 cases still awaiting hearings out of the total notices generated in the state.

The drive reflects ongoing efforts by state authorities to improve administrative efficiency and reduce delays in processing statutory notices. Such backlogs, often accumulated over extended periods, can impact governance and public services. The focused operation demonstrates a structured approach to clearing pending cases through concentrated resource allocation and expedited procedures.

While the two-day exercise has made considerable headway, the remaining caseload suggests that sustained efforts will be required to fully clear the backlog. Officials have indicated that such intensive drives may become regular undertakings to maintain manageable processing timelines.
