Fresh estimates released by the National Statistical Office provide the first comprehensive district-level analysis of India's informal sector, exposing sharp concentrations of productivity across specific geographic zones. Haryana emerges as the clear leader, with seven districts ranking among the nation's most productive informal-sector regions, underscoring the state's economic strength beyond formal manufacturing.

The data reveals that informal-sector productivity is not uniformly distributed across India's districts, with certain regions demonstrating significantly higher output levels than others.
