A Haryana Police special task force intercepted two vehicles carrying 25,000 cartridges near the Rohad toll plaza, disrupting what authorities described as an interstate arms smuggling operation. The seizure marks a significant crackdown on illegal ammunition trafficking in the region.
During the operation, law enforcement personnel stopped and searched the vehicles, discovering the substantial cache of cartridges concealed within. The ammunition was reportedly being transported from Haryana to destinations in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, according to police officials.
Five residents of Uttar Pradesh were arrested at the scene following the discovery. Authorities said the suspects are currently being questioned to determine the intended recipients and supply chain involved in the smuggling network.
The seizure highlights ongoing concerns about illegal weapons and ammunition circulation across northern India. Haryana Police has intensified surveillance and checkpoints along major routes to intercept contraband destined for neighboring states.
