Hataman urges unity, good governance as Bangsamoro Parliament inaugurated

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamborica del Sur – The establishment of the inaugural regular Bangsamoro Parliament marks a significant milestone for the autonomous region, with officials emphasizing the need for collaborative governance moving forward.

Basilan Governor Mujiv Hataman underscored the importance of unity among lawmakers and administrators in driving the region's development agenda. Speaking through a statement issued Sunday, Hataman stressed that institutional success must ultimately be reflected in measurable improvements for the communities served by the government.

Abdulraof Macacua's election as chief minister represents a key institutional development for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), which was formally established through the Bangsamoro Organic Law signed in 2018. The regular Parliament replaces the interim parliament that oversaw the region's initial governance period.

Hataman's call for good governance comes as the newly constituted Parliament prepares to address longstanding development priorities, including infrastructure, education, and health services across the Muslim-majority autonomous region in Mindanao.
