Five flights were diverted from Johor Bahru's Senai Airport due to haze conditions that affected visibility and flight operations. Among the affected services was a flight carrying Malaysia's transport minister, according to airport authorities. The diversions were split between Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Singapore's Changi Airport, which is situated approximately 70 kilometres south of Senai. The incidents underscore the recurring challenge posed by regional haze to air traffic operations across Southeast Asia, particularly during seasons when transboundary air pollution affects the region. Senai Airport, which serves as a key transport hub for southern Malaysia and the Causeway region connecting to Singapore, has experienced similar disruptions during previous haze episodes. Authorities did not provide details on the duration of the flight disruptions or when normal operations were expected to resume at the airport.
