Air quality has deteriorated across Malaysia, with 27 locations recording unhealthy air pollution index (API) readings as of 8 a.m. today. Johor continues to bear the brunt of haze conditions affecting the region, with Pasir Gudang posting the highest API measurement at 177, indicating unhealthy air quality for the general population. The industrial area has consistently recorded poor air quality readings in recent days as transboundary haze persists across the southern region. The Klang Valley, Malaysia's most densely populated region, has also experienced a sharp increase in air pollution levels. Residents in affected areas have been advised to limit outdoor activities and use appropriate respiratory protection when venturing outside. The Malaysian Department of Environment continues to monitor air quality across all major population centers and will provide updated readings throughout the day.
