Air quality has deteriorated significantly across Sarawak, with three districts now recording hazardous pollution levels amid worsening haze conditions. Serian district registered the highest air pollutant index (API) reading at 436, exceeding the hazardous threshold and posing serious health risks to residents. The district was followed by Samarahan and Kuching, both of which also breached hazardous pollution levels. Meanwhile, Sri Aman and Sarikei reported very unhealthy air quality readings, placing them just below the hazardous category. The deteriorating air quality has prompted health concerns across the state, with authorities likely to advise vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions to limit outdoor activities. The haze situation underscores the ongoing air quality challenges faced by the state during periods of poor atmospheric conditions.
