HDFC Bank appoints ICICI's Srivatsan as chief compliance officer

HDFC Bank has announced the appointment of V N Srivatsan as chief compliance officer, strengthening its regulatory and risk management framework. Srivatsan, who is presently responsible for overseas banking compliance and data privacy matters at ICICI Bank, will transition to his new role on January 4, 2027.

The three-year appointment reflects HDFC Bank's commitment to bolstering its compliance infrastructure at a senior leadership level. Srivatsan's experience in handling cross-border regulatory matters and data protection frameworks positions him to oversee the bank's compliance operations during a period of evolving regulatory requirements across India's financial sector.

The move comes as Indian banks continue to enhance their governance structures in response to heightened regulatory expectations from the Reserve Bank of India and other supervisory authorities. Data privacy and compliance have emerged as critical operational priorities for financial institutions managing large customer bases and sensitive information.

Srivatsan's appointment underscores the competitive talent movement among India's leading banking groups, with senior compliance professionals increasingly sought after to navigate complex regulatory landscapes. His background in international banking compliance brings additional depth to HDFC Bank's oversight capabilities.
