HDFC Bank's Kaizad Bharucha to step down after 30 years

Kaizad Bharucha, 60, will retire from HDFC Bank at the end of December after spending three decades with the country's largest private sector lender. The senior executive, who had been identified as the board's preferred internal candidate for the position of managing director and chief executive officer, will step down as planned.

Bharucha's exit comes as HDFC Bank navigates leadership transitions and succession planning. His tenure at the bank has spanned significant periods of growth and expansion for the institution, which has established itself as a key player in India's banking sector.

The board's recommendation of Bharucha as an internal candidate for the top job reflected his seniority and experience within the organisation. His retirement will necessitate the bank's leadership to finalise succession arrangements for key senior management roles.

The departure represents the conclusion of a long association with HDFC Bank, during which Bharucha contributed to various aspects of the institution's operations and strategic direction over the past three decades.
