Health authorities have activated an extensive emergency response framework across 13 cyclone-vulnerable districts, deploying 724 dedicated medical teams to ensure rapid healthcare intervention during severe weather events. The coordinated mobilisation represents a significant scale-up of disaster management capabilities in high-risk coastal and vulnerable regions.
The preparedness initiative encompasses 4,628 emergency beds strategically distributed across healthcare facilities in these districts, alongside 205 designated relief camps equipped to provide immediate shelter and medical care. An additional 807 ambulances and mobile medical units have been positioned to enable swift patient evacuation and on-site medical assistance in affected areas.
As part of precautionary measures, authorities have already relocated 1,103 pregnant women from vulnerable areas to nearby hospitals equipped with obstetric facilities. This proactive displacement aims to prevent complications during childbirth amid cyclone conditions and ensure access to essential maternal healthcare services.
The comprehensive deployment reflects enhanced coordination between state health departments and district administrations in anticipation of the cyclone season. Officials have emphasised that all personnel have undergone orientation on disaster management protocols, with communication systems and supply chains verified to ensure seamless operations during emergencies.
