Malaysia's Health Ministry has cautioned the public, particularly elderly citizens, against using hydrogen inhalers that lack approval from the Medical Device Authority. The warning comes amid growing marketing of such devices with unsubstantiated health claims.

KUALA LUMPUR — The Ministry of Health (MOH) has issued a public advisory against the use of hydrogen inhalers, emphasizing that these devices have not been approved by the country's Medical Device Authority and should not be relied upon for health benefits.
The ministry specifically cautioned older Malaysians to exercise vigilance when considering such products, noting that manufacturers have made various health claims without proper scientific substantiation or regulatory clearance.
Under Malaysian medical device regulations, all health-related equipment must undergo rigorous evaluation and receive formal approval from the Medical Device Authority before they can be legally marketed and sold to consumers. Hydrogen inhalers currently in circulation do not meet these requirements.
The MOH advised members of the public to consult with qualified healthcare professionals before using any unproven medical devices or treatments. Consumers who have already purchased such products are encouraged to seek medical guidance if they have concerns about their health or potential side effects.
The advisory underscores the importance of verifying regulatory approval status before purchasing medical devices and the risks associated with relying on unverified health claims promoted by manufacturers.
