Healthcare initiative reaches over 600 construction workers in Vellore

A medical camp organised in Vellore extended free healthcare services to more than 600 construction workers, underscoring efforts to improve access to health facilities among the informal sector labour force in Tamil Nadu.

The initiative brought together medical professionals to provide preventative care, diagnostic services, and health counselling to workers who often lack adequate access to healthcare due to their employment conditions and economic circumstances.

Construction workers, classified among India's most vulnerable occupational groups, frequently face occupational hazards and limited health insurance coverage. Such camps serve to bridge the healthcare gap and raise awareness about preventative health measures and disease management.

The programme reflected a broader commitment to extending healthcare services to informal sector workers, who constitute a significant portion of India's labour force but remain underserved by conventional medical infrastructure.
