Kuching International Airport experienced ceiling damage on Tuesday following a heavy rainfall, prompting the airport operator to implement immediate containment measures. Malaysia Airports secured the damaged section to prevent any safety risks to passengers and staff transiting through the facility.
The operator has commenced comprehensive safety checks across the affected zone to assess structural integrity and identify necessary repair work. Officials said the area remains restricted pending completion of the inspection process.
Kuching, the capital of Sarawak, experiences frequent heavy rainfall during monsoon seasons. The airport, a key aviation hub for East Malaysia, continues to operate normally with the damage confined to a limited section of the terminal.
