Intense rainfall swept across northeastern Spain, triggering widespread flooding and forcing the evacuation of approximately 300 people from a campsite in the affected region. The deluge left seven individuals injured, according to officials responding to the emergency.
Emergency services coordinated a rapid evacuation of the campsite as water levels rose. About 100 of those evacuated were directed to a municipal sports centre, which served as emergency shelter for displaced residents and visitors caught in the downpour.
The flooding underscores the region's vulnerability to heavy precipitation events, which have become increasingly common across parts of Spain in recent years. Authorities continued assessing damage to infrastructure and property as cleanup and recovery efforts got underway.
Official statements indicated that emergency response teams deployed to the affected areas remained on alert for potential secondary incidents related to the heavy rainfall and resulting water accumulation.
