Heavy rainfall alert issued across multiple Indian states as monsoon intensifies

The India Meteorological Department has placed multiple states on high alert as unsettled weather conditions are expected to sweep across the country on September 4, coinciding with the festival of Janmashtami.

Several regions spanning northern, central, northeastern and western India have been flagged for potentially heavy downpours.
