Misty conditions are anticipated in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during early morning hours, according to the meteorological forecast issued at 05:30 a.m. on October 12.

Showers and thundershowers are expected to develop across most parts of the island as the day progresses. The most significant rainfall is forecast for the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva provinces, along with the North-Western province and the districts of Anuradhapura and Mannar, where isolated locations may receive showers exceeding 75 millimetres.

Residents in these regions are advised to exercise caution as heavy rainfall may lead to localized flooding and landslip risks, particularly in mountainous and low-lying areas. The public is urged to remain alert to updates from the Department of Meteorology throughout the day.

These weather conditions are consistent with the monsoon patterns typically observed during this period of the year, affecting transportation and outdoor activities across the affected regions.
