The Meteorological Department forecasts widespread precipitation across Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-Western and Southern provinces, as well as Anuradhapura and Mannar districts, beginning after 1:00 p.m. today. Showers or thundershowers are expected to affect several locations throughout these regions during the afternoon and evening hours.
Partially heavy rainfall exceeding 75 millimetres is anticipated at isolated locations in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces. Residents and travellers in these areas have been advised to remain alert to weather conditions and exercise caution given the potential for heavy downpours.
The forecasted wet weather pattern is expected to persist through the afternoon and early evening. Authorities recommend that residents take necessary precautions, particularly in flood-prone areas, and that road users exercise extra care due to reduced visibility and potential surface water accumulation on roadways.
