The Department of Meteorology has issued rainfall warnings for September 15 as a low-level atmospheric system continues to influence weather patterns across the island.
Under the influence of the disturbance, the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces face the highest risk of disruption, along with the Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the east. Residents in these areas should anticipate cloudy skies with periodic showers and thundershowers throughout the day.
The Meteorology Department has specifically cautioned that heavy rainfall exceeding 100 millimetres is likely in several locations within the affected regions. Such intense downpours could pose risks including flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas, particularly in elevated terrain.
