Heavy rainfall expected across western and central provinces
The Department of Meteorology has warned of significant rainfall across multiple provinces on Wednesday, with some areas potentially receiving more than 100 millimetres. Morning mist is also anticipated in several districts.

Heavy showers and thundershowers are forecast to occur across the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces, as well as Anuradhapura district on 8 October, according to the Department of Meteorology's morning forecast issued at 05:30 a.m.
Several areas are expected to experience particularly intense rainfall, with precipitation exceeding 100 millimetres likely in parts of these provinces and the northern district. Residents in affected areas have been advised to remain alert for potentially hazardous weather conditions.
In addition to the rainfall warning, misty conditions are anticipated during the early morning hours in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts. Motorists and commuters in these regions may experience reduced visibility and should exercise caution.
