Heavy rainfall forces closure of twin waterfalls in Andhra Pradesh district

Authorities in Anantapur district have temporarily closed Chaparai and Kothapalli waterfalls due to heavy rainfall and swollen water levels, raising safety concerns for visitors and trekkers in the region. The closure comes as the district experiences sustained precipitation that has rendered access routes hazardous and increased risks associated with flash flows in the waterfall areas.

Local administration officials cited the dangerous conditions created by the surging water levels as the primary reason for the precautionary shutdown. Both waterfalls, popular tourist destinations in the district, remain inaccessible until weather conditions improve and water levels recede to safer levels.

Beyond the waterfall closures, the heavy rainfall has inflicted damage on road infrastructure across the area. The G.K. Veedhi region has experienced notable deterioration of its road network, with local authorities assessing the extent of damage and determining repair priorities.

District officials have urged residents and visitors to exercise caution during the ongoing rainy season and to avoid venturing into flood-prone areas.
