Heavy rainfall forces school closures across 26 Uttar Pradesh districts

The Uttar Pradesh government has issued directives to keep schools closed across 26 districts amid persistent downpours and adverse weather conditions forecast by the India Meteorological Department. The two-day shutdown affects major population centers including Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Barabanki, Bareilly, Eta, Hapur, Moradabad, Siddharthnagar, Pilibhit, and Gonda, among others.

September 26 has been declared a holiday for schools across the affected districts, with educational institutions in several areas also instructed to remain closed on September 25. The precautionary measure aims to ensure student safety during the spell of heavy rain that has swept across the state.

The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for the affected regions, prompting district administrations to take preventive steps. State officials continue to monitor weather patterns and may extend closure orders if rainfall persists beyond the current forecast period.

This closure impacts a significant student population across northern India's most populous state and comes as monsoon rains continue to affect parts of the region. Parents have been advised to keep children indoors during the closure period.
