Heavy rainfall warning issued for multiple provinces across Sri Lanka
The Department of Meteorology has forecast significant rainfall across much of Sri Lanka on Friday, with several provinces and Mannar district expected to experience showers exceeding 75 millimetres. Morning mist is also anticipated in central and upcountry regions.

The Department of Meteorology issued a weather forecast on Friday morning warning of heavy precipitation across multiple regions of the island. Showers and thundershowers are expected to affect several locations nationwide, with particular intensity forecasted for the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western, Uva, North-western, Southern and North-central provinces, as well as Mannar district.
Early morning conditions will bring misty weather to parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, which may affect visibility for commuters and early risers. The meteorological department noted that rainfall exceeding 75 millimetres is likely at isolated locations within the aforementioned provinces and districts.
Residents and authorities are advised to remain vigilant, particularly in areas prone to flooding or landslides. The heavy rainfall may impact transportation and outdoor activities throughout the day. The forecast was issued at 5:30 a.m. on Friday and represents conditions expected across most parts of the island.
