Heavy rainfall warning issued for western and central provinces

The Department of Meteorology issued a weather forecast on Friday morning indicating significant rainfall is expected across multiple regions of the island throughout the day. Heavy showers surpassing 100 millimetres are anticipated at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as the North-western province and the southern districts of Galle and Matara.

Early morning conditions are expected to include misty weather in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces. Showers and thundershowers are forecast to develop at several locations in the Northern and Eastern provinces as the day progresses.

The meteorological department's forecast suggests residents in affected areas should exercise caution and take necessary precautions.
