Heavy rains and thunderstorms lash Delhi-NCR, trigger waterlogging

Delhi and its surrounding areas experienced a sharp weather system that brought heavy downpours and electrical storms across the region. The sudden onset of rainfall created waterlogging in several parts of the capital and adjoining districts, disrupting normal traffic and daily activities.

The National Capital Region, comprising Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad, bore the brunt of the weather system. Residents in these areas reported significant accumulation of water on roads and in low-lying zones, hampering vehicular movement and pedestrian access.

Meteorology officials have attributed the weather pattern to seasonal atmospheric conditions typical of this period. The thunderstorm activity added to the intensity of the rainfall, with lightning strikes reported across multiple locations in the NCR.

Authorities urged residents to exercise caution during the adverse weather conditions and avoid waterlogged areas. The Indian Meteorological Department has been monitoring the weather system and is expected to issue further updates on the progression of these conditions across the region.
